Van Guided Tour - Volcano Route São Jorge - Full Day

São Jorge contains eight recognized geosites within the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark, from its central volcanic ridge to lava fajãs, coastal cliffs and historic volcanic landscapes.

Rather than simply visiting viewpoints, this tour explains the processes behind what you see. Learn how successive episodes of basaltic fissure volcanism created São Jorge’s long, narrow shape and how erosion, earthquakes and tectonic activity continue to transform the island.

A nature guide with a university degree provides the scientific context while keeping the experience accessible to all ages.

Lunch, transportation, visits and insurance are included, while the itinerary is adapted according to your starting point and conditions on the island.
