Kiyomizu-dera and Gion Walk with History Guide

Explore Kyoto beyond the guidebook with a former history teacher.

This small-group walking tour takes you through Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Sannen-zaka, Ninen-zaka, Nene-no-Michi, and Yasaka Shrine while uncovering the stories, traditions, and beliefs that shaped Kyoto for over 1,200 years.

Rather than simply listening to a lecture, you'll be encouraged to ask questions, join interactive quizzes, and take part in discussions throughout the tour. Learn about Buddhism, Shinto, samurai history, and everyday Japanese culture in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Whether it's your first visit to Kyoto or you've been here before, this tour offers a deeper understanding of the city's history, culture, and religion while exploring some of its most beautiful streets and landmarks.
