Vigo's strengths: The Castro and San Sebastián walking tour

More than 2,000 years ago, the Monte del Castro has stood as a strategic point for the defense of Vigo. On this route we will trace the history of its stones, from the Celtic fortified village of the Iron Age, through the medieval castle of O Penço, and ending at the modern fortress that today overlooks the Ría de Vigo.
Through the eyes of illustrious invaders such as Julius Caesar, Sir Francis Drake, Lord Cobham, Marshal Soult, or George Rooke, we will understand how the defensive system of Vigo worked, how the battles and sieges of yesteryear were fought, and the role this Galician town played in some of the most important conflicts in history.
