Shimbashi is where Tokyo's office workers eat and drink after work, and we follow their routine: a small sake tasting at a standing bar to start, then dinner the local way, with simmered stew and fried plates under the railway tracks, skewers off the grill elbow to elbow with office workers, and a small bowl of ramen before the last train.

Food and drinks are included as much as you like: we keep ordering until you are full. Drink at your own pace, sake, beer, highball or soft drinks. Small group.

On weeknights the bars fill with office workers after work. Saturday nights are a little more relaxed, with neighborhood regulars.
