Kaga Samurai Spear Training at a Historic Shrine near Kanazawa

Few people in the world have ever held a samurai spear. Here, you will. Fudenryu Sojutsu is a 380-year-old spear martial art handed down by samurai who served the Maeda clan, one of the most powerful families in feudal Japan, and today it is taught nowhere else. Under a master's guidance, you will wield a 3.6-meter spear and learn the very thrusts and strikes once used on the battlefield. The lesson takes place at Enuma Shrine, where the lord's residence once stood, and ends with a visit to his tea house, a National Important Cultural Property.
